AKB48 32nd Single Senbatsu Election and Nissan Stadium Concert Details

AKB48 have announced details of the senbatsu election (sousenkyo) to select the participating members for their 32nd single. The election itself will take place at the [AKB48 Super Festival at Nissan Stadium] which has now been announced will take place on 8th June 2013. The concert itself will take place at 15:00 on that date, with the election taking place at 17:30. The event will take place come rain or shine. No ticket details have been released so far.

This 5th general election is to select the senbatsu members who will participate in AKB48's 32nd single, which will be released sometime in August 2013. There will be a total of 64 members elected:

1-16: Senbatsu
17-32: Undergirls
33-48: Next Girls
49-64: Future Girls

The members available to be elected has changed this year. Between 31st March and 7th April, eligible members will have to apply to participate. Eligible members are:

1. AKB48, SKE48, NMB48, and HKT48 members (including kenkyuusei) as of 31st March 2013.
2. AKB48 members moved overseas (Takajo Aki, Nakagawa Haruka, Miyazawa Sae, Suzuki Mariya)
3. Graduated members who have spent more than four years in an AKB48 group.

So far, a number of graduated (and graduating) members have already announced their intention on whether to participate or not:

Participating: Urano Kazumi, Noro Kayo
Not participating: Nito Moeno, Masuda Yuka, Nakaya Sayaka, Maeda Atsuko, Yonezawa Rumi, Ono Erena

Some other current members have announced their willingness to participate. The full list of participating members will be revealed after 7th April.

Of interest to this perhaps, are the two reunion SDN48 performances of their 1st Stage [Yuuwaku no Garter] on the 31st March. Second and third generation members will perform a daytime show, and first generation members an evening show. All SDN48 members had been forced to graduate en masse at their farewell [Next Encore] concert on 31st March 2012, so these reunion shows mark a year since the group disbanded, although some reunited for the revival performance of their 1st stage as part of [Minogashita Kimitachi e 2] concert series on 15th May 2012.

There are 12 different methods to get a voting ticket for this election, and the voting period will be open from 21st May to 7th June 2013, a day before the election at the [AKB48 Super Festival at Nissan Stadium]. The methods of getting a voting ticket are:

1. AKB48 "Twin Pillars" Fanclub Membership
2. AKB48 Mobile Fanclub Membership
3. AKB48 Official Smartphone App Membership
4. AKB48 DMM.com Live On Demand Subscription
5. AKB48 Official Net internet service provider member
6. SKE48 Mobile Fanclub Membership
7. SKE48 DMM.com Live On Demand Subscription
8. NMB48 Mobile Fanclub Membership
9. NMB48 DMM.com Live On Demand Subscription
10. HKT48 Mobile Fanclub Membership
11. HKT48 DMM.com Live On Demand Subscription
12. 1 voting slip will be including in each copy of AKB48's 31st single, limited, regular, and theatre editions.

The changes from last year are the addition of the NMB48 and HKT48 Live On Demand subscribers, which did not exist last year, and the inclusion of voting tickets in the Theatre Edition of the single prior to the single whose members are being voted for.

AKB48's 31st Single, has yet to be titled, but will be released on the 22nd May 2013. It will be released in a total of 7 types:

Regular Edition (Type I)
Regular Edition (Type II)
Regular Edition (Type III)
Limited Edition (Type I)
Limited Edition (Type II)
Limited Edition (Type III)
Theatre Edition

The Regular and Limited Editions are both CD+DVD editions costing 1,600 yen each and the disc content is the same for for the same Type number in Regular and Limited.

Regular Editions will come with a photo and a voting ticket.

Limited Editions will come with a national event handshake ticket, a voting ticket, and a photobook by Ninagawa Mika.

Theatre Editions are CD only and for this single there is a shake up. You can either purchase them with a voting ticket + individual member handshake ticket + 1 photo OR with a voting ticket + 2 photos.

These whole announcements are very exciting. It is surprising to me that the Nissan Stadium concert is only one day long and contains the election as well, which is normally a separate big event. The shake-up in election candidacy in interesting, but I suspect most graduated (and graduating) members will not participate. The two members who have announced (Nontii and Cindy) are well known to keep close links to the group already. Perhaps what makes the biggest change to the election dynamic, is the inclusion of voting tickets in the Theatre Edition of the single, as these make up by far the largest proportion of single sales (roughly 800k per single) and have never previously included voting tickets.

AKB48 Zenkoku Tour 2013 Team A and B Setlists

AKB48 have finally started continuing their 47 prefecture National Tour of Japan [Nonaka Misato, Ugoku. ~47 Todoufuken de aimashou~]. This was started in April 2012 and 16 dates were completed between then and October 2012. No concerts had taken place since the Team Reshuffle. The first 2013 dates started with Shinoda Team A in Kagawa on 25 March 2013 and Umeda Team B in Yamaguchi on 26 March 2013. Like all dates on the tour, Nonaka Misato made an appearance since the tour is named after her.

The next two dates on the tour are Umeda Team B in Aomori on 1 April 2013 and Oshima Team K in Yamaguchi on 3 April 2013. For listings of all concerts and releases, don't forget to check the MELOSnoMichi calendar. For a list of all concerts performed on the tour, click here.

The setlists for both the concerts so far is below. The unit songs are identical to the current waiting stages, and a lot of the group songs are taken from them as well. Please note that only 16 members of each team appear at each concert.

HKT48 Debut Single [Suki! Suki! Skip!] 1st Week Sales

HKT48's debut single [Suki! Suki! Skip!] sold 250,147 copies on it's first week on sale to place number one on the Oricon weekly sales charts. This is the highest first week sales for any of the 48 groups debut singles. It also surpasses the sales of Nogizaka46's latest single [Kimi no Na wa Kibou] which sold 242,054 copies. NMB48's latest single [Kitagawa Kenji] sold 317,051 in comparison.

[Suki! Suki! Skip!] also dominated the Soundscan charts, with the three CD+DVD types taking the top three positions in the chart:

Type A: 37,248 copies
Type B: 28,479 copies
Type C: 25,887 copies

Since Soundscan does not count the Theatre Edition, we can estimate this sold a total of 158,533 copies by subtracting the Soundscan numbers from the Oricon number.

Many congratulations to HKT48! These are fantastic sales and hope they continue. What's even more astonishing is that the Soundscan numbers better than Kitagawa Kenji by a couple of thousand.

NMB48 Team N Shinohara Kanna To Graduate

On March 21, NMB48 Team N member Shinohara Kanna has announced her graduation. She will leave the group after a graduation show on April 12 and then wants to pursue her dream of becoming a model.

Kanna joined NMB48 as a 1st Generation member when the group was founded in 2010 and was later chosen as one of the original members for Team N. Recently, fellow Team N member Fukumoto Aina also announced her graduation, so Team N will soon be left with two open spots.

Shinohara Kanna's Graduation Comment:
Original Message

I, Shinohara Kanna, will graduate from NMB48.
I was active in NMB48 as a 1st generation member, since I was in first year of junior high school. But I wasn't a member who danced or sang in the front rows.
I had the dream of becoming a model, and I haven't forgotten my wish to fulfill this dream.
Since I was promoted to Team N, I made a lot of experiences until now. There were happy and fun things, but there were also painful and frustrating things.
Even though I was chosen senbatsu for the 1st single 'Zetsumetsu Kurogami Shoujo', I wasn't chosen for any single senbatsu after that.
No matter how much I failed I was still doing the best effort I could.
But this effort wasn't enough. And because of my insufficiency, I wasn't able to make any good announcements and I am so sorry to you all.
During handshake events etc, sometimes even my being in Team N was disapproved. "Why are you even in Team N?"...and the like.
It was really painful. There was even a time when I thought it would have been better if I never had been promoted to Team N. But I, who have nothing to be confident in, also thought that nothing can be done about it.
But facing forward, I continued until now. What I can say to you now is:
I am glad about being in Team N.
It was really fun standing on the same stage with these great friends, going to different places for our tour, laughing about stupid things, and fooling around like idiots.
No matter how many painful feelings I had and even at times when I was afraid of handshake events, there were people waiting for me. Because there were people who wanted to meet me and to support me, I could enjoy handshake events naturally, and they became a pleasant time.
Thank you for saying you love me.
Thank you for supporting me.
I was really happy that I was able to meet such wonderful people and to meet the other members.
I love the members of NMB48.
I will aim for my model dream and do my best.
I cannot always depend on NMB48. Now that I graduated junior high, I will make a new step.
If you come along the name "Shinohara Kanna" again somewhere, I would be happy if you support me.
Thank you for everything until now. And please support me from now on too.

I am not really surprised about Kanna's graduation. She always had a difficult position in the group, she never made senbatsu after the 1st single and never got much attention. Her graduation comment shows how hard it must have been for her and I really hope she has more luck and success in pursuing her model dream.

HKT48's debut single [Suki! Suki! Skip!] sold 205,278 copies on it's first day on sale to place number one in the Oricon Daily Singles Charts.

This is the highest first day sales from any 48 group's debut single, the previous highest being NMB48's [Zetsumetsu Kurokami Shoujo] with 131,654 copies. It even beat Nogizaka46's latest single (their 5th) released last week, [Kimi no Na wa Kibou] which sold 204,281 copies.

AKB48 Charity Song [Tenohira ga Kataru Koto] + Performance Setlists

To mark the second anniversary of the Touhoku earthquake and tsunami, that occurred on 11 March 2013, AKB48 released a new song [Tenohira ga Kataru Koto] on 8 March 2013 as part of their ongoing [Dareka no Tame ni ~ What can I do for someone?] project. The song is available to download for free on their official website: http://www.akb48.co.jp/darekanotameni/ and a donation page has been set up  to support the recovery efforts (click here for the official English donation page).

On 9 March 2013, AKB48, SKE48, and NMB48 performed as part of the [Shinsai Kara 2-nen 'Ashita e'] Concert, broadcast by NHK. They performed the following songs:

AKB48 - Heavy Rotation, Kaze wa Fuiteiru
SKE48 - Nakama no Uta, Banzai Venus
NMB48 - Dareka no Tami ni, Nagiichi
AKB48 + SKE48 + NMB48 - Tenohira ga Kataru Koto, Sakura no Hanabiratachi
Hana wa Saku (featuring Iwata Karen)

Iwata Karen was one of the performing members for [Hana wa Saku] the song she was part of released last year for the earthquake recovery charity project. [Sakura no Hanabiratachi] had it's lyrics changed for this occasion.

On the day itself, most of AKB48 and some of the sister group members, performed all over some of the disaster struck regions. See this post by T-Motion@jphip for details and pictures of those events.

Meanwhile at their respective theatres, each group performed a special setlist. You can see these (and the member line-ups) below. For the sister groups, most members were on stage, although for AKB48, it was mostly just the kenkyuusei. The Live On Demand recordings of these shows are downloadable for free on DMM.com for the next 30 days, however that section of the website is region-locked to Japan.

NO NAME 2nd Single [Kono Namida wo Kimi ni Sasagu] Tracklist + Covers

[AKB0048] anime seiyuu sub-unit NO NAME will release their 2ndt single [Kono Namida wo Kimi ni Sasagu] on 10th April 2013. The lead track is the ending theme of the second season of the anime, whilst track 2, [Omo Naki Sono Koe] is the opening theme.

The single will be released in four types. Two CD+DVD types and two CD only types, with one set of covers being the seiyuus and the other, the anime characters. The CD+DVD types cover feature all the characters/members, whilst Type C features just Watanabe Mayu and Iwata Karen, and Type D the anime characters they voice, Sono Cheiri and Motomiya Nagisa. All types feature a NO NAME version of a classic AKB48 song.

The future of NO NAME after the 2nd season of [AKB0048] has been thrown into doubt recently due to the recent graduation of Nakaya Sayaka and forthcoming graduations of Hata Sawako and Yagami Kumi. Both Nakaya Sayaka and Hata Sawako are graduating to continue their careers as anime seiyuu (voice actors) though, so perhaps [AKB0048] has been a stepping stone for them.

NMB48's 1st Album [Teppen Tottande!], released February 27, finished its 1st week selling 328,436 copies. It topped the Oricon Weekly Charts clearly.

The album already sold 247,047 on 1st day and kept good sales the following days, topping Oricon Daily Charts the whole week except for one day.

Sales are higher than the 1st Week Sales of NMB48's last single [Kitagawa Kenji]  (317,051) and also far higher than those of SKE48's 1st Album  [Kono Hi no Chime wo Wasurenai] (110,613).

HKT48 Team H 2nd Stage [Hakata Legend] Shonichi Setlist

HKT48 Team H started their 2nd Stage [Hakata Legend] on 1st March 2013, after finishing their 1st Stage [Te wo Tsunaginagara] on 17th February 2013. Like the current AKB48 stage,[Hakata Legend] is a "waiting stage" consisting of pre-existing songs chosen by the team.

Of interest is a version of [Kimi no Koto ga Suki Dakara] with re-written lyrics in Hakata-ben. Also, three songs were included from their debut single, lead track [Suki! Suki! Skip!], and [Seifuku no Bambi], and [Onegai Valentine], which opened with the start of AKB48's signature song [Aitakatta]. It also included HKT48's first original song [Hatsukoi Butterfly] which was a coupling song on AKB48's 29th single [Eien Pressure] and [HKT48]

Since Team H currently only consists of 15 members, 2nd generation kenkyuusei Yamada Marina took the 16th place in the shonichi line-up.

Setlist

M01. HKT48
M02. Kimi no Koto ga Suki Dakara (Hakata-ben ver.)

M07. Heart Gata Virus (Anai, Wakatabe, Ota)
M08. Temodemo no Namida (Matsuoka, Moriyasu)

---MC---
M10. Seifuku no Bambi (Sashihara, Kodama, Miyawaki)

EN2. Suki! Suki! Skip!

EN3. Shiroi Shirt

I'm really looking forward to watching this stage, as I love Team H, although I'm still sad Te wo Tsunaginagara is over and instead we get this "waiting stage" made up of existing songs rather than a proper stage setlist. I'm also very surprised that three of their most popular members (Haruppi, Aoi, Sakura) are in one unit.

HKT48 1st Single [Suki! Suki! Skip!] Tracklisting + Covers

HKT48 will release their debut single [Suki! Suki! Skip!] on 20 March 2013 via Universal Music. It will be released in three CD+DVD types and the usual CD only Theatre Edition. There were two separate types of sales which included the Theatre Edition. The first was individual member 2-shot tickets, and the second was individual member handshake tickets.

Three of the songs, [Suki! Suki! Skip!], [Kataomoi no Karaage], and [Ima ga Ichiban] will receive music videos. The generic coupling song [Onegai Valentine] is being used in a CM for Ghana chocolate, and is performed as part of Team H's 2nd Stage [Hakata Legend], as is [Seifuku no Bambi] and the lead track.

Like their first original song [Hatsukoi Butterfly], which was on AKB48's 29th single [Eien Pressure], 2nd generation kenkyuusei Tashima Meru is the centre here - even getting a solo cover on the Theatre Edition.

I really like the single and hope HKT48 do well on their debut! Aki-P has called Meru "the new Jurina" before, and I think it's just in her similar push to the front. Personally, I'd prefer Haruppi, who is the Team H centre.

Another new HKT48 song [Tanso no Gen](which is not included on this single), is used for a CM for a drawer company:
