[Heavy Rotation] Final Updates + Review

My my my. It's the day of release for Heavy Rotation and wow, there has been nothing but good news with this Single this last few days. I'll start of with the first one.

Heavy Rotation.........somehow........amazingly..........ships.........out..........
650,000 COPIES!!!!!!!
(note: its shipped not sold. Shipped as in to the various stores for selling)
HOLY SHIT! That's A LOT! To give you a comparison, Ponytail to Shushu shipped out 500,000 copies. Ponytail to Shushu had a 1st day sale of 354,403 and a 1st week sale of 513,453.

Wow AKB is definitely on a roll now.

That's not all! The NINKI ranking (a ranking done by Oricon to see how the public feels about the Single and if they want to buy it or not) for Heavy Rotation is:
351.30!!!!
Ponytail to Shushu had a NINKI ranking of 260.80 and Sakura no Shiori had a NINKI ranking of 148.50 (wait a min. that's the same as Takamina's height lol).

And not only that! The mid-day sales of Heavy Rotation is:
55,226!!!!
Ponytail to Shushu had a mid-day of 26,963. Sakura no Shiori had a mid-day of 15,994.

So from this we can estimate the amount of sales that Heavy Rotation will have. My guess is: 1st day of 500,000 and 1st week of 675,000

However NINKI rankings should not be readily used for judging the sales of a Single, it only shows the willingness of the public it they would buy it or not. Neither should we trust mid-day sales can't be trusted so easily because Kamikyoku Tachi had a mid-day if 44,485 but their 1st day was only 189,884.

There's still more good news!
There will be a simultaneous broadcast of Heavy Rotation in all radio stations throughout Japan on the midnight of 18 August. I repeat. ALL 101 RADIO STATIONS THROUGHOUT JAPAN!!! AND ITS A SIMULTANEOUS BROADCAST!!!! TOKYO FM and Chiba Bayfm will have the song running EVERY HOUR. There will also be narrations done by Oshima Yuko, Maeda Atsuko, and Itano Tomomi broadcasted along with the song.

And the last of them all. They will be performing of MUSIC STATION on Friday (20 August 2010).

Heavy Rotation is definitely on Heavy Rotation.

More after the jump

So lets see.....
Song ranking:
MELOS: Namida no Seesaw Game > Yasai Sisters > Lucky Seven > Heavy Rotation
Namida no Seesaw Game is definitely my favourite song from this Single. I love old school. Same as KIEYUKU, the title song is my least favourite. Like her, I only like the chorus part. (Luckily the chorus parts takes up quite a lot of time in the song). However I found myself to be looping the song more and more this past few days. The reason why I rank it the last is because it's not a bad song, but the weakest compared to the other three. Yasai Sisters is too cute for me not to have it at 2nd. Lucky Seven sounds too much like YMCA, but thats good.
KIEYUKU: Namida no Seesaw Game > Lucky Seven > Yasai Sisters > Heavy Rotation
It's ironic that the title song is my least favourite :S All the songs are catchy though, and they're pretty unique from each other. Namida no Seesaw Game wasn't what I expected it to be (something epic like Tobenai), but it still is pretty darn good. Lucky Seven kinda stole some parts off YMCA, but to its credit, all other parts of the songs are catchy by themselves. Yasai Sisters scores cute points with the vegetable lyrics. Meanwhile, I do like Heavy Rotation, but it's not really awesome as a song or anything. The chorus is its only redeeming quality, to be honest.

PV ranking:
MELOS: Namida no Seesaw Game > Lucky Seven > Heavy Rotation > Yasai Sisters
KIEYUKU: Lucky Seven > Namida no Seesaw Game > Yasai Sisters > Heavy Rotation

I'll let my co-writer write about this one for now. I'll add in my review when I get back home tonight.

Lucky Seven (note: its mirrored)

Lucky Seven had the whole pirate theme going on and it was so cute. My fave part in Lucky Seven was the scene with Tomoomi, Miichan, Rie and Sasshi waiting for the food to drop on their plate xD They all looked up at the same time  Interestingly, the four girls are all from Team YJ.

Namida no Seesaw Game (song only)

Namida no Seesaw Game is the only PV this time with anything close to a story. But it's very slight. Something worth mentioning is the smooth and creative transition from black and white to colour. It's all cool. And the funny scene with the woman whacking the man in the crowd who got mesmerized by Rabutan. xD

Yasai Sisters PV (note: its mirrored)

One thing in Yasai that I didnt really like was the idea of the girls in a blender. It just gives me a bad feeling and rather than thinking they'd be blended into juices, some sort of gory horror scene formed in my head. Ughh. It creeps me out to even think about it. However, all other parts of the PV are pretty good, and some scenes are rather creative, such as the starting when the tomato drops.

Heavy Rotation CM

Now, coming to the most talked-about PV, Heavy Rotation. I'm not even annoyed about half the senbatsu being shafted. The thing about the PV was that it gave other people ammo. For those who were neutral about AKB, some became sarcastic about the blatant fanservice. For those who hated AKB, it gave them something to shoot down the fans as being lolicon, paedophiles and so on. Besides the Jurina/Rena bathtub scene, I didn't really enjoy the PV much on the whole. You could argue that maybe it's because i'm a girl, but to me, the whole PV came off as a bit -mind if i say it- slutty. The makeup was rather overdone as well. Also, the dancing scene military outfits came across to many people as mismatched, for obvious reasons.
