Maeda Atsuko's [Flower] 1st day sales + Review

AKB48's Maeda Atsuko has just recently released her debut single, Flower, on June 22nd and has reached the #1 on the Oricon charts, with 102k units sold on its first day of sales.

On her offical blog, she posted about how thankful she was to her fans for their support towards Flower and that she was really happy that the single made #1 in the Oricon Daily Chart. She also asked her fans which song they liked in the single.

First off, congratulations to her for achieving such great results for her debut single! Being the ace of AKB48, the sales really reflect well on how popular she is with the fans. As she is the second to go solo in the group, I am curious whether she would be able to match up to her peer, Itano Tomomi, who achieved a total of close to 215k units sold so far for her debut single, Dear J.

Checking out the songs from her single, and I have to say it is really a pleasant listen. In comparison to her peer Tomochin, whose album focuses more on electropop and gives a more diva-ish feel, Acchan's single is more of a ballad compilation, comprising mostly of slow and mid tempo songs.

Flower
The title track of the single. The soothing piano rhythm, combined with emotions brought out from Acchan's singing, makes this a really good song to listen to. She has already performed this song live in a couple of music shows, so check it out!

Kono Mune no Melody (この胸のメロディー)
A mid-tempo B-side to the single. To me, this song gives off a more cheerful feel as compared to Flower, even though it lacks a little flavour as compared to the title track. Still, it is a great song to check out, so be sure to listen for yourself!

ACT 1 - Hoozue to Caffè Macchiato (頬杖とカフェ・マキアート)
Personally, this is my favourite track of all the 3 versions. The melodies bring out an unexpectedly dreamy ambience, which makes a easy listening track for many occasions. I recommend this song as a must-listen for everyone who loves Acchan. Or anyone for that matter of fact.

ACT 2 - Yoake Made (夜明けまで)
Yet another slow-tempo song, the feel for this song can be felt when the song hits the chorus. I feel that this song could be potentially used for the ending theme for dramas. A nice way to end off the ACT.2 ver of the single.

ACT 3 - La Brea Ave.
A slightly faster mid tempo song, I think this song gives off a good uplifting feel. This song also provides the contrast to the otherwise ballad-like single. Certainly a good song to look out for.

Theater Version - Brunch wa Blueberry (Brunchはブルーベリー )
Exclusive to the Theater Edition of the single, this song gives off a relaxed feel with its chords. I also feel that the song is a really nice song to sway to with its perfect speed. Do remember to listen and check it out for yourself!
