AKB48 24th single [Ue kara Mariko] first day sales

AKB48's latest single [Ue kara Mariko] released today, of course reaching the #1 spot in the Oricon charts. But with how many copies sold on it's first day?

959,280!

Just 40k shy of hitting the 1 million mark on the first day. But they still beat their 21st single [Everyday, Kachuusha]'s first day sales which was 17K less. [Ue kara Mariko] also managed to sell almost double of last years Janken single [Chance no Junban] which had sold 471,242 copies.

Not surprised that they didn't hit 1 million on the first day as most of the front girls aren't there in the a-side. I actually expected lower than this to be honest but with Shinoda Mariko as center and their usual sales trend, its believable. I wonder if in the end of first week it will reach the 1.3 million mark though as all of AKB48's single has reached since [Everyday, Kachuusha]. Well, we'll have to wait and see. Congratulations to AKB48 for another #1 though!
