Sakura no Ki ni Narou (桜の木になろう)

Here's my take on [Sakura no Ki ni Narou]
This is quite a slow song but a great song to start of the year with. I must comment that the instrumental in this song is addictive and soothing. In the PV on the official channel that was meant to be a promotional video, we got a peak of the song's feel. There was an empty chair in the PV and I thought that was a very subtle motif placed inside. The various close up shots of the girls with sakura petals placed below the eyes was a cute impression of a teardrop. In this PV, Matsui Jurina was shown quite prominently as opposed to other girls in the senbatsu. Maeda Atsuko had some solo lines towards the end of the song and I found her singing real beautiful. However at times like this, i wonder where is Yuko. (I know she is sitting beside Mayu but still...)
The undergirls song also had a promotional version of the PV on the official channel. The PV featured mainly Kimoto Kanon from SKE48 as well as Yokoyama Yui. It gave me a positive vibe similar to Boku Dake no Value and the PV was quite lighthearted as well. Its a real cute PV as a whole!
The two members featured in this 20th single Undergirls song seem to be the rising stars of the group. Kimoto Kanon is one of the newest additions to the SKE48 family and since then she has been gaining popularity making it to senbatsu within a month or so from her entry into SKE48. Yokoyama Yui is the research member promoted to replace Ono Erena and she is now under Ota Pro. She is in the new sub-unit of AKB48 Not yet alongside Oshima Yuko, Kitahara Rie and Sashihara Rino. Both girls have been gaining more and more popularity and this single will give them yet another popularity boost for sure.
Will add in more information of the theater version as information trickles in.

You see lots more of yuko in the full PV :)
Yuko is getting old, so she is put aside. However, i think it's not wise to put Acchan and Jurina together so much in this PV's scenario. Age difference considered, they are not fit to be classmates where such closeness can be built. Sisters, maybe, but this is just too fake.
But maybe the management was thinking that since they're targeting the general audience now, people wouldn't mind so much about the age difference. It's only really the hardcore fans that know all about ages and birthdays and bloodtypes anyway. LOL
And besides, people keep saying that Jurina looks grown-up, and that Acchan looks young, so maybe they were expecting it to work. If you pretend you're seeing them for the first time, the age difference isn't as distracting. XD
