Details on the AKB48 Group Pennant Race
The AKB48 Group teams will compete against each other in a new event, the AKB48 Group Pennant Race. Points will be awarded based on theater ticket applications, theater version handshake ticket sales and sousenkyo votes.

[AMERICA] AKB48 to Perform in Washington DC's National Cherry Blossom Festival

It was just announced via The Washington Post that AKB48 will be part of the National Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington DC on March 27th, 2012.

AKB48 will be performing twice at the Lincoln Theatre, the first at 16:00 and the second on 19:30 (EST). The shows are held to thank the Americans for their support after the March 11th earthquake last year. This year's Cherry Blossom Festival also marks the 100th year that Japan has donated Cherry Blossom seeds since 1912.

A total of 16 members will be visiting DC, and they are:

Team A: Kuramochi Asuka, Takajo Aki, Takahashi Minami
Team K: Umeda Ayaka, Fujie Reina, Matsui Sakiko, Minegeshi Minami, Miyazawa Sae
Team B: Suzuhi Shihori
Team 4: Abe Maria, Ichikawa Miori, Iriyama Anna
Kenkyuusei: Takahashi Juri, Kawaei Rina, Kojima Natsuki, Hirata Rina


Tickets for the concert, which are FREE, will be available on http://j-pop-concert-akb48.eventbrite.com/ starting March 13th. The Lincoln Theatre has a seating capacity of 1250 people.


AKB48 will also visit the District's Thomson Elementary School on the 26th.
