My love for the Japanese went way back when I sat down and watched Doraemon on the tube when I was a kid. Since then, the interest grew through various things, such as animes, manga, Jrock and lately, AKB48 :P
I am actually a pretty new fan, a couple of my close friends introduced me to them back around March, and I have never looked back since then. Some Japanese artistes I really enjoy listening to include Dir En Grey, YUI and Asian Kung-Fu Generation. It's really a random mix, but I really enjoy the many aspects of the Japanese music industry, so I'll have groups from here and there that I like. Oh, and I like k-pop too, not gonna deny that :D
